VIP 2004
The day was sunny and beautiful and the crowd, after the 12-noon opening, brought chairs and blankets and sat all afternoon to enjoy the wonderful and varied international performances and the many art contributions.

This year we were fortunate to have Angelo Romano’s angel art surround the Bandshell while many panels of the Ribbon International Art covered the police barricades to create a beautiful path. The Kraft Searcher embroidered 36 yards of quilted pieces from all over the world stitched together as a symbol of peace Also His Holiness Professor Lin Yun, created a special calligraphy banner dedicated exclusively for the Bandshell’s peace event. To top it all, flags from all over the world were displayed in multiple stands and the children from China, with their twirling hankies, jumped off stage to invite all children in the Park to join them in their peaceful dance.

Highlights included The Brooklyn Choir of Santa Maria led by George Poppe who performed original songs written specifically for the event; The Course in Miracles Choir led by Sue Mayburry’s guidance performed beautiful songs by John Lennon and many others; Shaman Susana Tapia and Sunshine Eagle conducted a drumming and water ritual and blessing ceremony; Francesco Illardi recited his Butterfly of Peace poem while children swirled multi-color ribbons in the air. Laraaji enhanced the festivities with an afternoon laughing meditation and tribal music.

Performers and artists included: Crystal Tones Singing Bowls, His Holiness Professor Lin Yun, James Cannings Music, Shamanic Magic Circle, Helga Schleeh Mandala Art Project, Peace Ribbon International, Gemma, Jay Emmanuel, piano virtuoso Edward Leung and Neko Zhang among many others.
